2021 is here. It’s extremely nice to have 2020 in the rearview mirror. Are you looking for something new? New bags perhaps? The design elves have been working very inventing wonderful new bags. All sorts of of bags, in all sizes and materials are waiting for you. When you are looking for something new, look everywhere. The New Year is a great time to buy yourself a present. You deserve it this year. Stores are open and websites are working. If you shop in stores the sales associates are all masked and happy to help you be sleek and chic for 2021. Why not come on a tour of some of the stores in the city. Maybe you will find a bag to two that you love.

Logo bags are as strong as ever this season. Gucci poses a question with it’s bags and sneakers. Fake on one side and not on the other, so there is not doubt that you bag is authentic. Interesting concept.

Fendi does a very subtle logo bag, in a new shape. The moveable top handles are interesting, and it comes with a shoulder strap.

Vuitton has a new logo design in a tapertry-like design, Since 1854. A very interesting textural take.

Virgil Abloh for Off-White logo double arrows and the paperclip closures as his defining signature.

Fendi’s new scribbly logo perks up this Baquette.

The fashion statement on these Gucci bags is the use of the color white for winter. Winter white is a great way to put some pop in your wardrobe.

Designers are also updating classic bags with new details. Dolce Gabanna uses large scale quilting to make a good bag better.

Alexander McQueen adds unusual quilting to a shoulder bag, and places the signature knuckle grip on a small shoulder bag with great effect.

Danile Lee at Bottega Veneta does a double update with this bag. His original shape borrows very heavily from his days working with Pheobe Philo at Celine. He has now added the signature Bottega Intrecciato weave. Interesting.

Playing with handles is one way designer make bags look new. This cream beauty from Chloe has a very interesting chunky braided hanle.

Fendi wraps handles on the woven bag to the right. I find the charm chain detail on the bag in the center to be the most interesting. If you are looking for something new, the chain detail is it.

Prada, too, wraps the handles of their bags with scarves, or in this case only one handle.

Mini bags are still with us. Fendi treats these as jewelry, and at the prices Fendi charges, they pretty much are.

Prada promotes a bag necklace as well. This one is a hard metal rimmed bag.

Looking for something new? Twinned bags, a mini bag attached to a regular bag by Givenchy, are the tiny bag update. Stash your keys or some lipstick for eash access.

Prada likes the idea too.

Devaux takes the mini bag to a creative extreme. A NYC Taxi bag or a teapot with a spout…why not? If you are looking for something really new, these bags stand out.

New materials and new shapes are showing up. Th snake skin Rockstud update from Valentino is a great variation.

Fendi is adding new bag shapes with subtle details.

Vuitton’s mix or textured metallic leather is clean and refreshing.

And Valentino offers another great variation on the Rockstud. The metal lattice with the stud detail can go out for the evening or be worn casuallyl.

Mixing materials is a great way to update a bag. Raffia can work for fall, especially when it is mixed with dark leather as Chloe did.

Azzedine Alaia’s team is always ading new updates to their bags. The tribal stud pattern here is very fresh.

Martin Mariela by John Galliano always offers interesting shapes. The plaid bag ups the cool factor. A very new look.

Loewe loves plaids too. This ethnic inspired one works beautifully with the soft leather of this bucket bag.

Color can update bags too. This Balenciaga orange update of the Nicolas Ghesquiere Larait bag works in any size.

A pale blue bag fro Bottega is a wonderful novelty, The cork opening only makes it more interesting.

The basic forever Loewe drawstring bag looks fabulous in mustard and military green.

Another Loewe bag works colorblocking beautifuly for this season.

Jeremy Scott is a color lover. This exhuberant motorcycle jacket bag mixes a little bit of everything artfully.

Art is a new avenue for bags. This Arty Capucines bag design by California artist Henry Taylor of Young Master is one of many artist designed bags from Vuitton. It chicly stands out.

This LV Kabuki bag is a tribute to Japanese designer Kansai Yamamoto. A true original.

Again Vuitton adds an artful touchh to a cool chain bag.

Even though we aren’t going out that much, covetable evening bags still look good. Diamante trim on this Chanel bag sparkle. The little monogram double C mini bag adds a special touch.

For all out glamour grab this diamante pave shoulder bag. It will lift your spirits, just as the bneaded pouch will. Crisp of languid. Your choice. Enjoy the new bags of the season.
