Choose These Shoes

Choose These Shoes

Spring, and Daylight Savings Time, are both fast approaching. And stores are full of interesting and fun shoes, as well as easy to wear staples. With so much variety, it is not hard to choose these shoes. There is much to covet this season. The clunky shoes trend of the past few seasons is evaporating. See all that is new this month. Let’s preview this tour of some of the stores in the New York. What are you looking for this season?

Metal trimmed shoes

There are more and more flats being offered this season. Alexander McQueen, known for the super-high armadillo shoes, has some of the best flats. This style with the metal toe cap is captivating.

Valentino also offers a lot of flats. This one is loaded to the max with extras – a beaded leopard print, the signature Rockstuds, and a fat bow.

Silver flats look good for spring

Another pair from McQueen is also silver, a trending color. The open toes and decorated straps update the classic mary jane.

The French designer Jacqemus offers flats that shine with rhinestones, as well as a mule that mix a loafer with a Birkenstock. Casual flash.

Miu Miu White slipper

Miu Miu offers flat mules that are very slipper-like. Slippers being one of the new trends. The sequined decoration elevates them.

Choose white loafers for spring

Loafers are also trending this season. One of the best updates of a classic shape comes from Marni. The woven leather is sleek and chic. Make a fashion statement when you choose these shoes.

Heeled loafers are also a thing. This pair from Pierre Hardy looks cool either color-blocked or solid. The curved heel is especially fun.

Color blocked loafers

Plan C offers color-blocked loafers too, but they are set on low platforms with traction. This is as clunky as shoes get this season.

Decorated loafers for spring

Dries Van Noten decorates loafers with an interesting take on a tassel. The same motif is repeated on sandals. An studied update.

There are heels around, but they are mostly not stilettos. Miu Miu offers cool kitten heels with crossover straps. Updated retro.

Fun heels for spring

J.W. Anderson crafts a scuplted metal “bubble” heel. He also likes strong colors, including this lemon yellow and a bright green.

Choose bow trimmed shoes

There are a few stilettos around. Balenciaga offers this bright pink fabric pair, trimmed in large bows. Stand out in style.

Fancy spring shoes

Valentino does some fun heeled sandals too. The back of the foot is covered with a molded rose. A good way to draw attention to your feet.

Clear Plastic shoes

Evening shoes get a refresh from Amina Muaddi. This pair is clear, but they also come in assorted jelly-like colors. The delicate shoes seem to float.

And there are also mules with heels. This pair from Botegga Veneto is fun with the shirred detail and little knots.

Creative shoes

And Jacquemus plays with shapes again this these mules, with both kitten heels and a higher heel. The square toe makes a cool statement.

Sandals for summer

“Fisherman style” sandals are also trending. The multi-color style from See By Chloe comes in a low heel and a higher heel with a platform, and the solid version has a higher heel.

Choose Hermes sandals

Hermes like to stick with brand signatures. The H vamp is one of those designs, as is the Kelly turn lock. Both are classic looks and come in heeled sandals, as well as flat one.

Platform sandals are this years choice

Blanket stitching has recently become a brand signature for Chloe. This sandal in two colorways uses the stiching in a new way this season.

And the horsebit buckle is a Gucci signifier too. Although Phoebe Philo did the first pair of fur-lined sandals in 2013, Gucci soon followed with fur-lined loafer in 2015. This sandal is great with, and without, the fur.

This Valentino boot is one of the few chunky boots around this season. It is updated with very large Rockstuds in a gunmetal. If you must do chunky, this could be a good way to do it.

Bottega Veneto has a newer take. Why not a sock boot? They look very comfortable, and they can work with both pants and skirts.

These Schiaparelli boots think they are being surealistic, but trompe l’oeil is probably more accurate. Bare feet on a platform might look interesting. But are they comfortable to walk in?

Another boot that needs to be rethought is the Chanel bootie with an outsize leather camellia and bow. I can appreciate the fact that Chanel fans love the signature flower, but sometimes too much is too much. There are so many fun styles to pick from, so when you choose these shoes, you are getting the best.
